Approximation validity

Weak-coupling limit: The soul-body coupling is assumed to be perturbative (small corrections to standard physics). If coupling were strong, soul-field effects would already be obvious in particle physics experiments. This constrains the coupling constant to very small values.

This paper does not claim the soul is detectable by current instruments. It does not claim out-of-body experiences are proof of soul decoupling. It does not claim every quantum field corresponds to a soul. It claims that IF the soul exists, the most rigorous way to formalize it is as a scalar quantum field with specific coupling properties — and that this formalism produces testable (if difficult) predictions.

Audit & kill conditions

Load-Bearing Claims

The soul is a real scalar quantum field Ψ_S. If quantum field theory is shown to be incompatible with any non-physical field operator (i.e., all fields must correspond to known particles/forces), the soul-as-field formalism collapses.

Death is decoupling, not annihilation. The field persists after bodily death. If consciousness is shown to be entirely dependent on neural substrate with no residual information-theoretic signature, this claim fails.

The observer collapses the wavefunction. This paper inherits P01’s measurement problem claim and adds the soul as the specific observer. If objective collapse is confirmed, the soul-observer is unnecessary.

~ Suggestive Claims

Near-death experiences as evidence of decoupling. NDEs are real phenomena, but their interpretation as soul-body decoupling events competes with neurochemical explanations (endorphin release, anoxia). The evidence is suggestive, not dispositive.

IIT’s Φ quantifies soul-coupling. Integrated Information Theory measures consciousness integration, but Tononi designed Φ as a physical measure, not a soul detector. Using Φ as evidence for the soul operator is a creative reinterpretation, not a derivation.

Got Carried Away

“Death is decoupling, not annihilation” presented as physics. This is a theological claim wearing a lab coat. The formalism (Ψ_S persists after decoupling) is internally consistent but unfalsifiable — there is no experiment that can detect a decoupled soul field.
